Trenčín castle - Retaining column
The retaining column is situated in the north-western wall above the Trenčín museum. Retaining column ensured corner stability of the object above the administration building. The supporting structure is formed by stone masonry. There was realized complex reconstruction of the retaining column for the renewal of its supporting function. It was necessary to solve anchoring between the new and existing masonry, its partial reconstruction, with the use of traditional technologies from the time of construction. During the reconstruction, masonry samples were taken for strength evaluation. During the reconstruction of historical buildings, we respect international agreements for reconstruction of monuments ICOMOS that define requirements for mortar and masonry.
